so i cut my teeth coming up in the world volunteering with these asian youth groups, the ones that were heavily leftist and believed in things like community and marching around in circles with signs. i rounded out my time in the youth sector with a stint at oakland based youth sounds (now a BAVC owned subsidiary) finishing out my tenure with a stint at UthTV (fate unknown).

ok, so i'm making it seem like i'm way too old and jaded to be in youth groups and all, after all i'm only 19, (20 next monday hah-cha-cha) -- but whenever i'm asked by people to be their advisor on all things youth and community, i scratch my head. the following comes to mind when i was passed over for a promotion of sorts at a certain company i have been interning at this past summer. the position was for youth intern coordinator (i don't think there was an offical title or anything). i did a great interning job at this company, to the point where my friend who got the promotion was asking why didin't i get it.

he was drunk, and i was sober at a birthday party when he asked me. and the answer came to me as subtle as a fifth of bricks: i don't know shit about the youth or community.

but i can tell you though that robbie rist, cousin oliver from the brady bunch played dr. zee in the galactica 1980 movie (or 3 part mini-series). he was replaced by patrick stuart (not picard) for the entire ten episode run of galactica 1980.

ask me about what's cool with youth today? ask me to market to a bunch of teenagers about your product? no thanks. fuck if i know man.
