I wish everyone woud stop comparing heroes to the 4400. it's a different mythos people. that's like saying the wire is the same as law and order. butitsnot.
tonight is the season 4 premiere of nip/tuck and i honestly don't know how i feel about that. season 3 was definitely in shark jumping terrority what with the trans-sexual/white power storyline (akin to the probie homosexual storyline on this season's rescue me), and the carver, and then the carver reveal.
And now, all that season 4 can seem to offer me are guest stars! guest stars! guest stars! guest stars that play gay people, guest stars who want amazing procedures done on them, guest stars who are addicted to sex!
nip/tuck has made no excuse in protraying seedy, sordid, trashy charecters and storylines, but redeemed itself with heavy charecter driven plotlines and an aesthetic so slick (crisp suits, big sunglasses, and dance music to disgusting scenes), it makes all the negatives things i said disappear.
does it happen where style one-ups substance and the resulting trainwreck is a beatiful disaster set to a goldfrapp track? not that i'm hoping that it will, but i'm expecting it to.
so i was watching made last month, the show that some newspaper reporter dubbed, the after school specials of our generation, and although they are on season 6 or whatever, they (canadates and/or producers) can't step back from nerdy/gothy/rough/tomboy/mal-adjusted kids wanting to become homecoming/prom/pagent king/queen/prince/princess.
so i was watching made last month, and one of the kids who wanted to become prom king hit a producer/editor injected dilemma, and his coach sagely/wisely told him that a "setback was just a setup for a comeback". and i thought, very sage made coach. very sage.
2006 will not be known as the best year for me. i will refer to this as my jake lamotta year, without lecheriously getting underaged girls to drink in my club. there was much fattness abound though. but yeah, it's about time i get back on that comeback trail, much this new season of the ultimate fighter (4) - the comeback, which many are speculating to be the best season of TUF ever.
i started caring about my appearance again for starters, finally using my former faux-metrosexual drawer of skincare products. it's a start, right? there this high classy-gentleman's barbershop near my job which i plan to get a straight edge/blade shave. and maybe i'll start working out again. a setback is just a setup for a comeback.
bj penn will also be making his comeback again welterweight belt matt hughes in september after george st. pierres, the orignal fighter set-up to fight hughes for the welterweight belt suffered a pulled groin and could not recover in time. it can be noted that pierres suffered his only loss (out of 13 fights) to matt hughes and bj penn was the only person who was able to beat hughes in 2004 for the belt, but had to step back as champion after signing with japanese promotion k-1. pierres was also a coach on the ultimate fighter: the comeback.
i'm not sure what's up with me starting to turn over a new leaf or whatever. maybe it's with school starting, that's probably it, maybe it's cause i'm sleeping better, maybe it is because of the the increase in my lithium loadout. or maybe i've programmed myself with a self-destruct program set go to off at the end of this year, much like a cylon. or scent of a woman.
